Networks & Wi-Fi
Poor Wi-Fi is usually blamed on the internet provider, but the provider is rarely the cause. More often it's a coverage gap, a consumer-grade router handling a commercial workload, or too many devices competing for one channel.
What's covered
What you get
- Survey of what you actually have and where the dead spots are
- Business access points, placed where they're needed, not where there's a socket
- Separate guest Wi-Fi so customers aren't on your business network
- Wired runs for the things that shouldn't be wireless: registers, printers, cameras
- Router, switch and firewall setup with the defaults changed
- Labelled cabinet and a diagram, so the next person isn't guessing
- Working with your internet provider when the problem really is theirs
When people call
What that looks like
The Wi-Fi drops in one part of the building
Usually a coverage gap, sometimes interference, occasionally physical cable damage. It's diagnosable, and it's fixable.
The card reader or register keeps disconnecting
Point-of-sale equipment sharing Wi-Fi with everything else is a common cause. Moving it to its own wired connection or a dedicated network usually resolves it.
You're moving or fitting out a space
The most cost-effective time to plan cabling is before the walls close up. It's worth a conversation early, even if another contractor handles the physical install.
Not sure what's causing it?
Call and describe what's going on. If it's something we can resolve over the phone in a few minutes, that's exactly what we'll do, at no charge.
